  I'm not sure I understand the concern about attribution: surely the same 
problem applies to any image in a wiki that's not got a link? And MediaWiki has 
had those forever.
  
  If Wikivoyage wants to always link to the banner image, they'd just have to 
//not// add `|link=` — and given they call `{{PAGEBANNER}}` in a protected 
template, it seems unlikely that it'd be added by accident.

  @Lydia_Pintscher I'm reopening this because it //could// get the code in 
another way, it just doesn't.
  
  It currently uses P218  which is 
//only// two-letter codes. However, MediaWiki uses IETF language tags (with a 
few exceptions that people are trying to fix), which are a mixture of 
two-letter codes (ISO 639-1), three-letter codes (ISO 639-3) and two/three 
letter codes followed by variant subtags (e.g. country, script). The two-letter 
codes are barely a third of our list, so it fails to match the majority of them.
  
  The data is there though - we have a property for ISO 639-3 codes (P220 
) and for IETF language tags (P305 
).
  
  Also, in my experience, the way it currently behaves is extremely confusing 
for users and has led to multiple people thinking we don't support a language 
when we actually do (as long as you select the language twice), so I would 
really like to see this fixed.

  If so, we have the globals $wgUseDesktopSpecialWatchlistPage and 
$wgUseMFUseDesktopSpecialHistoryPage for disabling the watchlist and history  
page overrides but we don't seem to have one for the contributions page which 
would allow you to configure this off. Adding one would not be a large amount 
of work, and I'm happy to help support engineers on the Wikidata side if that's 
an option.
  
  If that's not an option you'll want to talk to Olga about us carving some 
time out for this page. Development on this feature/page is pretty much frozen 
given the epic goal of T210168 .

  p.s. It seems like Nan wikipedia is trying to use either namespace or 
category to categorize articles written in Hani but none appears to be 
comprehensive, and due to problem in wikidata those articles are also 
undiscoverable from wikidata, making it hard to find them ...

  @samwilson got it. I guess the challenge here is making sure the image is 
still attributed. We'd probably want to talk to the Wikivoyage community first 
with around revisiting that. Perhaps some text can be added in the footer to 
handle the attribution to add link support.

  After a short discussion, the members of the UX team agree to proceed with 
this fix. Keeping accessibility in mind, we would encourage selecting a gray 
from our color palette that meets an acceptable contrast ratio: #72777d.
  
  We recognize and are obliged to mention, nevertheless, that this relevant 
issue is a symptom of a broader underlying problem: the lack of semantic 
standards for the translation of data in Wikidata's user interface. We 
acknowledge that defining those standards and rethinking the UI would quite a 
broader task requiring allocating time and UX resources.

  And I'm honestly a bit flabbergast as to what I'm seeing. Contrary to what

  It just seems that webdriver.io somehow missed the fact that it successfully 
clicked the button and now tries to keep clicking a button that of course no 
longer exists on the main page ?!?
  
  I'd be more than happy to hear your take on this.
  
  My only course of action would be to try upgrading to wdio 7, hoping that we 
might get a bugfix along the way that takes care of this. What version of 
nodejs are these daily tests running on?

  Yes. The qualifier approach should work well for point #3 you added above: 
"No easy way to mark a violation as exception" when many items fail the 
constraints, but once in a while a value is accurate and should be marked as 
double-checked.

  My guess is that as the schema change isn't made on the same transaction, the 
query arrives in between the drop+create and gets stuck with that huge full 
scan.
  I have depooled the hosts that are giving too many connections (as they 
others have the schema change already done) and see if that helps reducing the 
load and get the schema change done.
  
  I will change T284375  to make 
sure it is done on the same transaction for the next iterations.

  This code path is triggered as the health checks use http
  Switching to https would avoid this code path and query for the health checks.
  Though I guess we also want to look at why the query tries to scan the whole 
table?
  
  This is not a #wikidata  
specific issue (nothing special here) and would occur on any mediawiki instance 
in theroy.

TASK DESCRIPTION
  While deploying a schema change (T284375 
) on s8 master, with replication 
enabled, a few of the replicas reached too many connections.
  The cause is the following queries piling up on codfw s8 replicas
  
  P16523 (An Untitled Masterwork) 
  
  These queries seem to be queries to monitor the mw status of the hosts, 
requesting `Special:Blankpage` from LVS
  
  There are several things that probably need fixing here:
  
  - This query isn't cheap
  - We might want to rate limit this query somehow.
  - This makes impossible to deploy schema changes with replication on the 
standby DC for certain big tables.

  It is currently not straight forward to get statistics for monolingual 
language code use: SPARQL queries for this (https://w.wiki/3Tpz) time out. So 
@Ladsgroup ran a dump-based query instead.
  
  We used the opportunity to get a broader look at monolingual use in general:
