If you're going to be supporting mismatches on labels, descriptions, aliases (which would be good!), then making type required might make sense - and making changes like that while the tool is still in early stages is good (or at least, better than later!). There are ~3.6m mismatched English descriptions at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Short_description_is_different_from_Wikidata that I could start automatically uploading when that becomes possible. Please do let me know when I need to update my code - ideally in the first half of a month since it runs at month-start! The process of getting the geoshape is described at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:Kartographer#Via_Wikidata_ID - it works in reverse from the usual setup, you have the Wikidata QID on the OSM feature, and Kartographer somehow manages to query for that and pull the shape over to display it. (It's not stored on Wikidata since OSM IDs aren't stable.) If after getting the property claim for an external-id, I request 'clm.getTarget()' - then I get lower case. If, however, I do 'clm.getTarget().title()' then the first letter is capitalised. To generalise the code, I've added a check for if a claim is an external-id or not, and use the appropriate call accordingly. Looking a bit more, there are examples where they are noindex but probably they do want to be in Wikidata, e.g., https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Serial_murders_in_France - so excluding noindex probably wouldn't work well anyway. Will have to look into this further before deciding how the bot should approach this now. I need the page title rather than the ID. So probably something like this would work? (changing, e.g., -0 to -14 for categories): SELECT page_title FROM page WHERE page_id IN (SELECT page_id FROM page JOIN page_props ON page_id=pp_page WHERE page_namespace=-0 AND pp_propname='unexpectedUnconnectedPage') Does that make sense? OK, the problem is with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Light_characteristic_different_from_Wikidata - which is where the template is an infobox rather than an authority control template. So the simplest thing is to just skip any categories where the template name contains 'infobox', which I've implemented at https://github.com/mpeel/wikicode/commit/78a5957a504a4ea5c99eabefeba3594e0bf5095d . That should solve this in the longer term. For now, I suggest just removing those lines from the import file, or if possible, coding up something that would catch bad lines like these and skips over them. I would like to exclude pages that use this magic word from the database query, so that the bot runs more optimally - is this possible somehow? A related issue that is quite frustrating when adding images to Wikidata: you need to remove the 'File:' part, otherwise you get a pull-down list of possible matches where it's easy to then click on the wrong file. Take for example https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:IMO_9869162 - for which Pi bot created https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q107073476 on 2 June. On Commons you can see the Wikidata link, which you couldn't before. However, Pi bot is still not seeing this and adding the infobox, using the query in: https://bitbucket.org/mikepeel/wikicode/src/master/query_infobox_candidates.py So it seems that the situation has *improved* but is not yet *fixed*. Unless I'm doing something wrong in my query? I was using the interwiki tool on Commons to create a new Wikidata item, and after entering the enwp page name I accidentally pressed the return key twice - and got two items (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q106571400 and https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q106571401 - although I'll delete the second in a minute). I don't know if this is the same as happened before in this item, or if this is a separate potential cause, but really the tool should ignore the second return key press. I estimate I was doing around 5x30=150 out of those 370 queries per month that the task description mentions. I think getValueByLang doesn't support maxvals=1 at the moment. If you do

then you only get one value, but it's then not doing the language matching.

Mike_Peel added a comment. Personally, I would like to see us going in a different direction - we should stop excluding namespaces. For the 'Draft' namespace in particular, I don't like it, but it's unlikely to go away any time soon. So if we want to encourage people to use Wikidata information in articles, without having to constantly define the QID, then we should allow sitelinks to the draft articles. They would only be temporary after all, since enwp seems to periodically delete drafts. But to answer @Lydia_Pintscher's specific question: I think it's fine to leave the sitelink to a redirect. If the draft gets deleted, then the redirect will also be deleted, and the sitelink removed. Probably the same will also apply to other excluded namespaces. The important thing is that sitelinks are removed if the page they are linking to no longer exists at all.
