  https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Vector.css#L-116 has a workaround for
this bug. Vietnamese Wikipedia probably has one too. Use `?safemode=1` to
actually test how it looks. For example,

  Many editors have ULS disabled, since it previously powered compact links,
which wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea. So the answer is yes.

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] T286679: Some interface messages are in Welsh when British English is selected as the interface language

2021-07-16 Thread stjn
stjn added a comment.

  Btw, this is a common problem with translators into Russian, too. I think
~~now that English speakers became affected~~ it is better late than never to
find ways to improve Special:Translate interface to make the language you are
currently translating your message to a bit more prominent for people. Right
now, it is fairly easy to miss ‘Translate to: British English’ at the top of
the page, and I have done it before myself, so maybe it needs to be somewhere
in the edit form, too. (Sorry if off topic, just sharing that this is more
common than this current issue.)

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T66315: Move "Data item" link outside of sidebar toolbox

2019-08-09 Thread stjn
stjn added a comment.

  Previously list item with Wikidata item had `#t-wikibase` ID by virtue of
being in Tools section. Some gadgets, stylesheets, and user scripts do use this
ID (`insource:"t-wikibase" prefix:all:` search in ruWP
<https://ru.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?sort=relevance=insource%3A"t-wikibase"+prefix%3Aall%3A=Служебная%3AПоиск=advanced=1={}=1>,
 enWP
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=insource%3A"t-wikibase"+prefix%3Aall%3A=Mozilla-search=1>).
 Will this be accounted for in some way (like providing a class like
`wb-otherproject-wikibase-item` and doing global replacements)?

  If Vue that Wikibase team uses is not server-side, shipping 60 Kb of
JavaScript to users in Wikipedias for a relatively small tool in the interface
is probably not great, even if that makes the developer experience a bit better.

2019-07-16 Thread stjn
stjn created this task.
stjn added projects: Wikidata, MediaWiki-extensions-WikibaseClient.
Restricted Application added a subscriber: Aklapper.

TASK DESCRIPTION
  Third time’s the charm, as suggested by @Ladsgroup in T50047
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T50047>. I have since enabled enhanced RC
because I value seeing Wikidata edits in my watchlist more, but the bug still
exists in the same form:

  F29782616: image.png <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/F29782616>

  I don’t have an enabled setting for showing multiple edits from the same
pages in my watchlist (‘Expand watchlist to show all settings, not just the
most recent’), but Wikidata edits don’t acknowledge this and show each edit
from Wikidata without checking for specific pages. I think that this behaviour
should be fixed with showing me and others without enhanced RC only the latest
edit.

  This routinely brings my watchlist into disarray if one person on Wikidata
edits an item too much:

  F26341982: image.png <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/F26341982>

  **Steps to reproduce:**

  1. Go to https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Россия
  2. Add it to your watchlist
  3. Set up showing Wikidata edits in the watchlist if you don’t have it
  4. Check the watchlist for 20+ edits in the same item Q159

TASK DESCRIPTIONWikidata interface currently features a number of sticky elements which are powered by _javascript_. This is a cool feature to have, but it can be realised entirely in CSS, which will work better in most modern browsers.

.wikibase-entitytermsforlanguagelistview-header {
	position: -webkit-sticky;
	position: sticky;
	top: 0;
}

I suggest that having to do calculations on scroll is too much for a relatively small enhancement and we can use CSS instead (at the very least for all browsers except IE, if we need that support). This will be more performant and responsive (now I routinely see the table header getting carried away from its content).

This dependency is related to current mechanism for sticking:

It appears that this bug was not fixed or was broken afterwards again, as I mentioned in T90435#4119854 before. If I need to file a new task, feel free to close it and forward me to this. I got down to writing a clear task description before finding this task, so I’ll just copy it below.

I don’t have an enabled setting for showing multiple edits from the same pages in my watchlist (enhanced RC?), but Wikidata edits don’t acknowledge this and show each edit from Wikidata without checking for specific pages. I think that this behaviour should be fixed with showing me and others without enhanced RC only the latest edit.

This routinely brings my watchlist into disarray if one person on Wikidata edits an item too much:

F26341982: image.png

Steps to reproduce:

Go to https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Россия
Add it to your watchlist
Set up showing Wikidata edits in the watchlist if you don’t have it
Check the watchlist for 20+ edits in the same item Q159

Basically, subheaders had new localisation in edit buttons (‘править’), and all AJAX for them didn’t work at all. @Marshmallych, please don’t close my tasks for me in the future.

To provide an update: the specific issue with Russian localisation is gone, but I would still think that Wikidata team would like to prevent such issues in the future. Breaking entire interface for 2 days because of localisation change is not acceptable, in my opinion. Wikidata team could, of course, change the task’s status if they would find this a normal occurrence.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T202346EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: stjnCc: Marshmallych, Ghuron, Vort, SerDIDG, Aklapper, stjn, stebsco, OlegCinema, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, Abiyoyo, QZanden, LawExplorer, Jack_who_built_the_house, Salgo60, Iniquity, Jonas, Wikidata-bugs, Base, aude, Lydia_Pintscher, putnik, Mbch331___

TASK DESCRIPTIONApparently, after changing a translation for ‘edit’ in Russian from ‘редактировать’ to ‘править’ users with Russian interface enabled have started to experience errors with _javascript_. Old parts of the interface (left side) work with ‘редактировать’ in their text work as intended, and new ‘править’ ones (that are present in the same interface alongside headings) are redirecting users to non-_javascript_ versions.

Is this some very crude caching issue? Can it be fixed for end-users without changing the translation back (since new one is more correct)? I don’t really see what might’ve caused something like this.

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T201765: Mark FlaggedRevs pages as needing review when data fetched from Wikidata changes

2018-08-11 Thread stjn
stjn added a comment.
I would say that this potentially would be a very, very, I mean, very bad feature for any project that uses both Wikidata and FlaggedRevs extensively. This unpatrolling routinely means that you have to recheck pages because file description on Commons changed in some time. When projects use Wikidata, there are some links that go outside to tens of different pages, so that problem would be even worse when each change of information in Wikidata would trigger FlaggedRevs rereview.

Without some installing of FlaggedRevs infrastructure (which is impossible) in Wikidata this would just lead to hundreds of thousands of unpatrolled pages in case of Russian Wikipedia.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T201765EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: stjnCc: stjn, Bencemac, Aklapper, Tgr, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, LawExplorer, TerraCodes, Zache, Wikidata-bugs, aude, jeblad, Jackmcbarn, Mbch331___

Sorry if I’m writing in the wrong place, couldn’t find a specific task about this and don’t know if I should file one. Is the appearance of multiple Wikidata changes on the same page in the watchlist the supposed behaviour? I am accustomed that edits on the watchlist show up only once per the affected page, but due to Wikidata edits enabled at ruwiki for me (and due to deeply regretful decision to expand edit summaries) the list looks like this right now:

F16896477: image.png

I would like to know if that is a supposed behaviour (and then I’d know that I should just turn off this) or a bug that should be eventually fixed.
