[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T47134: Copyright popup specifies "save" button even if using "remove"
Greta_Doci_WMDE added a comment. In T47134#4408780, @Legoktm wrote: This was 5+ years ago, but I think the message had the label "[save]" hardcoded, when I was pressing a button labeled "[remove]" - and that was the issue. The message would ideally be parameterized or something. This makes more sense now, thats why we should include a screenshot when we report a bug :) In other words: I think the message must be updated to say "By clicking "publish" or "delete", you agree to the terms of use, and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the Creative Commons CC0 License." I think this needs checking with the legal department. This could be a solution. @Lydia_Pintscher is someone from legal team here?TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T47134EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Greta_Doci_WMDECc: Greta_Doci_WMDE, PokestarFan, thiemowmde, Liuxinyu970226, Ricordisamoa, Aklapper, Wikidata-bugs, Legoktm, Addshore, matej_suchanek, 01tonythomas, Lydia_Pintscher, JohnLewis, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, Soteriaspace, Jayprakash12345, JakeTheDeveloper, QZanden, merbst, LawExplorer, Srdjan_m, MuhammadShuaib, LNDDYL, Psychoslave, aude, Gryllida, Shizhao, Arrbee, TheDJ, Mbch331, Jay8g___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Legoktm added a comment. This was 5+ years ago, but I think the message had the label "[save]" hardcoded, when I was pressing a button labeled "[remove]" - and that was the issue. The message would ideally be parameterized or something. I had filed this right as the message prompt was introduced IIRC.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T47134EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: LegoktmCc: Greta_Doci_WMDE, PokestarFan, thiemowmde, Liuxinyu970226, Ricordisamoa, Aklapper, Wikidata-bugs, Legoktm, Addshore, matej_suchanek, 01tonythomas, Lydia_Pintscher, JohnLewis, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, Soteriaspace, Jayprakash12345, JakeTheDeveloper, QZanden, merbst, LawExplorer, Srdjan_m, MuhammadShuaib, LNDDYL, Psychoslave, aude, Gryllida, Shizhao, Arrbee, TheDJ, Mbch331, Jay8g___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

thiemowmde added a comment. Legally, every edit requires the user to agree to the license. Even if the license is CC-0. Even if the edit removes something. Every edit becomes part of the CC-0 dataset, and this can only be done if every edit is compatible with CC-0. Greta_Doci_WMDE added a comment. I think that what @Legoktm was trying to report here, was that, when you edit an item, and you're are not logged in (or have never hit the button I accept these terms in my future edits.) the copyright pops up, even though your reason to edit that property is to delete it and not to add something new. This is not a bug. The message its pretty clear: If you click publish you agree with the terms, otherwise its cancel or remove and these 2 have nothing to do with the terms. So to me this task should be closed.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T47134EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Greta_Doci_WMDECc: Greta_Doci_WMDE, PokestarFan, thiemowmde, Liuxinyu970226, Ricordisamoa, Aklapper, Wikidata-bugs, Legoktm, Addshore, matej_suchanek, 01tonythomas, Lydia_Pintscher, JohnLewis, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, Soteriaspace, Jayprakash12345, JakeTheDeveloper, QZanden, merbst, LawExplorer, Srdjan_m, MuhammadShuaib, LNDDYL, Psychoslave, aude, Gryllida, Shizhao, Arrbee, TheDJ, Mbch331, Jay8g___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs
