TASK DESCRIPTION

I was trying to adapt https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Request_a_query/Archive/2017/06#Search_for_cheese_.28enwiki.29 to do a full text search on Wikidata.

This is the original query searching enwiki, which works as expected.
This is the same query searching Wikidata, which finds results but does not have any defined variables.

If I add ?title wikibase:apiOutput mwapi:title ., I can see that it is finding the items I would expect it to, it's just not populating the ?item variable. Lucas suggested that it's because Wikidata items are not sitelinks of themselves.
