For the author case (and many more) the convention is to use a qualifier. An example is here: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q24074986#P50 I am declining the general task because: 1. most use of Wikidata's data isn't on Wikidata so we need a solution that works for more than just viewing via the UI on wikidata.org. This can only realistically happen for the query service for example if it's in the data itself. 2.
