  So tying this into Special:EntityData too, we don't expect an entity type to 
be passed in there.
  So the assumption that the type is always somehow encoded in the ID is pretty 
baked in throughout Wikibase.
  
  I just wrote https://github.com/wmde/wikibase-rest-api-proposal/pull/110 
documenting the current status quo in this general area (with /entities/).
  But perhaps we would want to iterate on from that current state before 
implementation.

  So I'm interpreting this as (please correct if beside the point)
  
  1. omit the entity type from the path altogether
  2. alternatively (if there are documented reasons why the entity type should 
stay in the path) it should at least be singular instead
