  The TLS overhead for smaller items will be bigger but I understand if SRE 
thinks it should be encrypted, then it should be encrypted.
  
  I took the liberty to reopen this. Using the internal node even with TLS is 
still a noticeable performance gain, not to mention other benefits of it.
