Why the fixation on the publication date alone? Why not author etc? If you
first add the source as an item, then you can put the author and
publication date etc in the source item. When adding it as a source in a
reference statement, it has the publication date in there implicitly. You
can probably also query that usage data based on the publication date or
authorship somehow. The problem is that you need to make items for the
sources you want to reference with a publication date.

-  Wait with the data ingestion process until the overhaul has been 
done? - Do you have an idea when this could be the case?



-  Ingest the data, providing the source without its “publication 
date”? – Do you think it will be possible to add the “publication date” of the 
source at a later stage by re-running the tool when it has been improved? Or is 
it better to leave out the source altogether for the time being?
