Hi everyone - WikiEducator is planning to move to a hosting model based on a model of more active community participation in the management and maintenance of our server(s).
We will identify trusted members from our community with the necessary technical skills to administer the server(s) and assist with maintenance and upgrades. We envisage two categories of technical support: 1) Technically versatile and highly skilled server administrator(s) who can be trusted with super-user root access. 2) A team of technical support individuals who can assist with maintenance and installation of extensions and upgrades given appropriate documentation. COL will continue to provide funding for the leasing of the servers and from time to time consultancies for highly specialised work. Our first priority is to establish a fail-over solution that will ensure 24/7 uptime in the event that the main server experiences problems. If there are any members of the community who would like forward their names, please send an email with your CV to wmackintosh (at) COL (dot) org. I will compile the list for Erik to assign the relevant access authorities.
