I am interested, of course. Probably dozens and dozens of other
participants as well. Just hope to be able to latch onta a group...

Maybe we should give priority to countries who do not have a restrictive
Visa policy. I guess that would rule out Europe, North America &
Australia...

Hello Ciell,
I am attending Wikimania and I am interested in helping out. I am a
bi-lingual (two mother tongues) French/English, and I can get by in German
as well as smatterings of Spanish and Italian.
I also do teacher training about using Wikipedia in schools, both as
readers and as editors.
There is a vending machine for the bus tickets inside the terminal at the
way end, past the taxis. Cost is 10 dollars.
See you in a few days!

I think that this conversation is getting way off track.
The original question was about what type of adapter on needs to be able to
plug into a power mains in Canada.
One smart answer was the picture of the sockets available.
I suggested that someone in Montréal see if he collect a bunch of
Hi,
I have a request for our American & Canadian friends:
Could you collect a lot of power cables with US sockets, so that all of us
foreigners can use them instead of complicated adapter plugs ?
I know that I have dozens of them hanging around my house, they come with
all the equipment but I do

Hi Phoebe,
Like I said before, I have another "backup" hotel reservation for the
duration of the conference, and I have not cancelled it yet. It is at the
"Hotel Bon Soleil", less than 2 km away from the Conference venue. The
hotel is quite cheap, but not really wheelchair accessible. Should I
I have a few comments:

We do not know how the Montreal venue was selected for Wikimania.

WMF to have Wikimania in Montreal and they did not coordinate with the
chapter in doing this."

An excellent idea! We can send thank you cards to the adult volunteers, but
we must do something collectively for all the student volunteers. It is
obvious that the organizers cannot give out the addresses of minors, so the
best way to express our thanks to all those wonderful kids would be to use
in using Kiwix (www.kiwix.org), the offline Wikipedia reader, in a
classroom.
See you tomorrow! :)

There are different types of plugs in Italy. The two-prong plugs will fit
in. The problem is with three-prong plugs. You may need an adapter for
Italy.

I will add my grain of salt to this discussion.
When I was young, and I was traveling a lot, I would stay in Youth Hostels.
Membership was mandatory.
Things have changed a bit, Youth Hostels now call themselves "Hostelling
International" and in most places membership is no longer mandatory. But
It looks like the best option is to go vegetarian. I think that it would be
unfair to place such a burden on the Mexico Wikimania organisers when most
travel guides are quite explicit about the difficuty of getting Halal
certified food. Must be the same for Kosher food.
I am interested in these brochures. Could somebody give a brochure to a
Wikimedia.ch representative for me?
Thanks in advance

The Hong Kong Wikimedia chapter should contact the ICC now and ask for
their explicit permission.
All the Wikimedia big wigs are around to add weight to your request, and it
is a good learning experience for you for future requests! I really think
you should try asking them. I will volunteer my
