Date: April 21-24, 2016 Registration: December 1–January 15, 2016 Dear Wikimedians, It is my pleasure to invite Wikimedia affiliates, the WMF Board of Trustees and staff, the Affiliations Committee, and the Funds Dissemination Committee to join us in Berlin for the Wikimedia Conference 2016, hosted by Wikimedia Deutschland, from April 21-24, 2016. WMDE and WMF staff are working together closely to make this event fun, inspiring, and productive. WMCON16 is made possible by the financial support of WMF. You are invited to join us for three days of working, thinking, and learning. Bringing all movement organizations together will give us the opportunity to incorporate diverse perspectives and experiences into the program. For the first time, the Wikimedia Conference will focus on one core theme: “Movement Impact”. Our movement is striving for the biggest possible impact on Free Knowledge, seeking to create impactful programs, processes, and support structures aligned with our shared mission. At the same time, “impact” is a term that we struggle with, and for which we lack a common definition. In Berlin, we would like to unlock the potential for better collaboration, learning, and development in our movement – and more impact of our movement. The thematic strands and outcomes of our 2015 conference will feed into the new program. You will hear more about the program design process from the curator of the Wikimedia Conference, Nicole Ebber, and the Program and Engagement Coordinator, Cornelius Kibelka, in the coming days. Together with Wenke Storn and Daniela Genter from our event management team they will keep you updated about all things program and logistics in the coming weeks and months.
