Re: [Wikimedia-l] Readers love you

2013-12-08 Thread Todd Allen
Thanks indeed. It's awfully nice to know all that time I've put in over the
years has gone somewhere. This thing that millions of people have made is
truly amazing and has brought knowledge to probably billions, and it's good
to keep that in sight every so often.

Thank you for sharing these donation comments with us, Megan. Reading donor
emails was one of the most rewarding experiences of working on Fundraising
2010 that I had. It's fantastic and moving to read feedback from the
99.99% of the global population that does not edit.

Most importantly, thank you to those on this list and those not as well
that contribute content to Wikimedia projects. Without you there would
neither be need for fundraising nor such an overwhelming result fundraising
has, as well as the fundraising team for making the process streamlined,
transparent, and efficient.

[Wikimedia-l] Fundraising banner obscuring site interface

2013-12-08 Thread MZMcBride
Hi.

I thought there was an explicit agreement that fundraising banners will
not obscure the site interface, as it's bad for usability and annoys users.
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Permalink/111477931 seems to
break this agreement. What's going on?

Hi Dariusz,

Thanks for the note and for your appreciation. It was our pleasure to help
work this out and reach an informed decision with the community. It also
helped inform the larger consultation on the proposed trademark policy [1].
Trying to reconcile the law with a decentralized movement is not always
easy. But it definitely makes our job interesting. :)
