Re: [Wikimedia-l] Launch of Wikimedia Affiliates Data Portal

2020-03-06 Thread Tito Dutta
Hello,
Thanks for the update. The third point you mentioned about (structured)
data and data query, that sounds really interesting, and I would love to
run such query or attend the (online) seminars you have proposed.
About "Tired of the affiliate reports [2] wiki table of death? SO are we"
-- I am unsure, the people who wrote long report pages with infographics,
and Wikicodes, perhaps could edit that simple Reports table as well.

I started studying the portal and made a minor change to update something
19875666. I understand the portal will be gradually improved, and
more information, details will be added (such as for " Attach report link"
should it be full URL or Wikilink, or should "What type of Report are
you attaching?" have more options? anyway...) I'll further study this, but
I don't want to submit the form just to study things. :) So a test/sandbox
option for the module/portal would be good.

Thanks
Tito Dutta
Note: If I don't reply to your email in 2 days, please feel free to remind
me over email or phone call.

Congratulations on the launch! Knowing the competence of both involved I'm
confident the project will be an asset in improving communication between
affiliates and wmf as well as improving data collection of reports and good
practices of affiliates.

Thanks to all involved for their efforts and as soon as I can I'll check it
more closely and help the affiliates I participate in to use and give
meaningful feedback to further improve on the new platform.

I'm excited to try it out and participate in the onboarding sessions.

Congrats again on the launch.

[Wikimedia-l] Launch of Wikimedia Affiliates Data Portal

2020-03-06 Thread Dumisani Ndubane
TL;DR: Launch of Wikimedia Affiliates Data Portal

We are launching a new form-based annual reporting system for Wikimedia
affiliates [1], as well as a basic Affiliates data query system. We would
love your feedback.

Hello, Affiliate Leaders & Community Members,

Tired of the affiliate reports [2] wiki table of death? SO are we!

The Learning & Evaluation team is pleased to announce the launch of the
Wikimedia Affiliates Data (WAD) Portal [1]. This portal will serve three
purposes as follows:

 1. It introduces a new Object-Oriented User Interface (OOUI) [3]
form-based report submission interface for annual activity and financial
reports. This replaces the wiki mark-up based submission via the
 Reports page on meta.
 2. It introduces the ability for Organizations to update their
information using OOUI forms on the fly.
 3. It introduces a new simple data query form that allows anyone
logged-in to their public wiki accounts to run a query and view results on
available Affiliates data. The query tool will be improved in the coming
financial year, as we work to code data in Affiliate reports into
structured data, to allow for richer analysis.

The Reports page on meta will continue to be visible on meta until the
end of June 2020, after which it will be protected and archived. All
organizations that are due to submit annual reports at the end of March are
encouraged to use the new report submission forms. If you do use the new
forms, please share any feedback you have about this new process on the
Portal’s talk page

We will hold training seminars for those who wish to be onboarded to the
submission forms and the Query system during the months of March and April
2020 (Dates will be communicated soon).

We have taken time to pre-populate the system with basic information about
each recognized Wikimedia affiliate, however, should you find any incorrect
or outdated information about your group, please use the organization
information page[4] to provide updated information.

We trust that you will enjoy the new portal and that you will find it
useful. Should you have any problems or encounter bugs in the new forms,
please use the Portal talk page [5] to log these, or to simply ask
questions. We will collect similar questions to create an FAQ page in due
time.

Kindest regards

[Wikimedia-l] Wiki Loves Women "Tell Us more about Her" campaign

2020-03-06 Thread Florence Devouard
The Wiki Loves Women initiative is celebrating Africa’s women leaders
throughout March 2020 with the Tell Us About Her drive on the ISA
tool. The drive is aimed at improving the visibility of political
leaders and activists across Africa on Wikimedia projects.

If you do not know it yet, the ISA tool is a fun and mobile friendly
tool that helps you to add better descriptions onto the photographs
uploaded to Wikimedia Commons within selected categories, so that they
are more useful on Wikipedia and Wikidata. Information added to the
image description is structured data (depicts or captions). Categories I
chose for this campaign are related to politicians, activists and in
particular feminists from Africa.

I invite you to check out what the ISA tool is (if you have not yet done
so during previous drives). And I of course invite you to join and help
add structured data information on our ISA current campaign Tell Us
about Her :)))

[Wikimedia-l] Wikimedia Ukraine's Annual Report, New Board & Other News

2020-03-06 Thread Голова Правління
Hello!

In late February, Wikimedia Ukraine held its General Assembly.

The General Assembly has reviewed the organization's activity in 2019. You
can find our 2019 annual report at
https://ua.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=7367 (in Ukrainian) or at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Simple/Applications/Wikimedia_Ukraine/2019#Final_report
(in English, in the form of a grant report).

Among other things, the General Assembly has also elected new Board and
Audit Committee [1].

The new Board consists of:
* Illia Korniiko (user Ilya), Chair of the Board
* Bohdan Melnychuk (user Base), First Deputy Chair and Secretary of the
Board
* Mykola Kozlenko (user NickK), Deputy Chair and Treasurer
* Igor Turzhanskyy (user IgorTurzh), responsible for our program “Content
Enrichment”, which includes editing challenges and contests, photography
contests and GLAM
* Nataliia Lastovets (user EleNte), responsible for the program “Increasing
Participation”, which centers on the Wikipedia Education Program, as well
as Wikimarathon and diversity initiatives.
* Pavlo Sokhan (user Friend), responsible for the program “Community
Support and Development”, which includes community events, training for
volunteers, scholarships, and microgrants.
* Anton Obozhyn (user Tohaomg), responsible for the programs “Awareness
about Wikimedia” and “Advocacy”, which are concentrated on media publicity,
promotion activities, and free panorama advocacy.

Congratulations to Bohdan and Anton, who have been elected to the Board for
the first time, and thanks to the previous Board's members Yulianna Tsaruk
and Oleksandr Havryk, who decided not to seek reelection.

Our new Audit Committee consists of three people:
* Oleksandr Havryk (user Олександр Гаврик)
* Ihor Makovskyi (user Mcoffsky)
* Viacheslav Mamon (user Venzz)

Congratulations to Oleksandr and Ihor for having been elected to the Audit
Committee for the first time, and thanks to Anna Khrobolova and Anton
Obozhyn, who decided to pursue different paths.

On the day before the General Assembly, we held a strategy session to
discuss Wikimedia Ukraine's strategic plan for 2020—2022 [2], as well as to
give feedback to international Movement Strategy Recommendation. The
feedback from participants has been posted on Meta [3].
