Re: [Wikimedia-l] Fwd: Toolserver decommissioning - migrate to Labs

2013-11-11 Thread Silke Meyer
Hi!

The toolserver will run until June 30th 2014. Nothing changed about this date.

As announced to all toolserver user accounts today, all accounts will
expire in January 2014. They can be renewed as usual. The two
toolserver admins Marlen Caemmerer and Alexander Mette provided two
scripts which will help you to pack and download your data and delete
them afterwards.

The reasons for my decision to have the accounts expire: First of all,
I would like to remind everyone to think about their tools' migration
early and get help if needed. Second, we are dealing the data of a few
hundred expired accounts already. The owners shall have the chance to
re-login and collect their data. They have been reactivated and will
expire in January, too. Third, I would like to encourage all those who
already moved over to Tool Labs to download and then their stuff
themselves.

Best, Silke

Dear nemobis,

as you know we are shutting down the Toolserver. Therefore we have
set all accounts to expire on

6th of January 2014

Please migrate your tools to Labs.

For packing and deleting all your stuff except the user-store you can
use the scripts
byebye
and
burnbridges
on nightshade.toolserver.org. The first tool creates tarballs of all
your data except for the user-store and the second tool deletes all
this data as well as expires your account.

Best regards
Your TS admins

Re: [Wikimedia-l] [cultural-partners] When was the first...? Your input is needed

2013-11-11 Thread Lodewijk
June 2009 was indeed Wiki Loves Art /NL. But wasn't that also already based
on the (different in scope and way it was organized though) New York
edition earlier that year? Smaller in number of organizations, but I
believe not very small in number of photos.

The first "big" photo competition was Wiki Loves Art, during june 2009:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons%3AWiki_Loves_Art_Netherlands

We had 45 museums participating back then, resulting in 5500 photographs.
