[Wikimedia-l] August 2018 "Community Metrics and Activities Meeting"

2018-07-30 Thread Pine W
I am attempting this one more time, with more advance notice and some
alterations to the agenda.

Here is a Doodle poll with options for scheduling:
https://doodle.com/poll/iycrgia2wqune63g.

I have created a page on Meta where people who want to include an agenda
item can do so:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Metrics_and_Activities_Meeting

This is an experiment. I hope that a meeting like this can facilitate and
nurture international connections, and I hope that people will be
interested enough to participate.

The meeting platform will be Zoom .

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Movement Strategy: First round of Working Group members

2018-07-30 Thread Lucas Teles
What are the steps now?

It is clear to me and others that this strategy initiative could not reach
new faces, especially those more engaged with editing. Or they were
reached, but not selected for some reason.

In case it is desired, whoever is in charge of this process should start
thinking on ways of reaching them or invite others to think with and find
a solution.

In case it is not desired, it should be clarified to broad community.

I see very good names on the groups and I don’t mean to discredit the work,
good faith, and the value of the whole process, but I just don’t think it
is the right path when editorial community is set aside intentionally or
not.

Best regards.

Teles

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Would people be interested in a "Community Metrics and Activities Meeting"?

2018-07-30 Thread Pine W
I made an error with the URL. Apparently the link should be
https://zoom.us/j/528900812 for people who want to join with the Zoom software.
Attendance has been very light but I will schedule a future meeting like this
with more notice, perhaps a more structured agenda, and hopefully with a
correct URL.

Thank you for making this happen, Pine, I'm very much looking forward to
it. I did a decent amount of livestreaming for Huffington Post (I'm sorry)
and other outlets back in my day and would be happy to help w/ future
logistics as a volunteer.

Betreff: [Wikimedia-l] Wikimedia Commons 2017 Picture of the Year competition
is now open

Dear Wikimedians,

We are happy to announce that the 2017 Picture of the Year competition is now
open.

Picture of the Year 2017 is the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons
image competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on
Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite
images featured on Commons (FP) during the year 2017, to produce a single
Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international
Wikimedia Commons community. From professional animal and plant shots to
breathtaking panoramas and skylines, historically relevant images, images
portraying the world's best architecture, Commons features pictures of all
flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two
rounds of voting will be held: In the first (and current) round, you can vote
for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top
ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited
number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to
become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2017 page on Wikimedia Commons:
 https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2017

Round 1 will end 24 June 2018, 23:59:59 [UTC].

Thanks,
POTY 2017 committee
