Re: [Wikimedia-l] 2020 Community Spotlight Survey

2020-06-17 Thread Wiegand Alice
Thanks Chris, and of course I understand that. Retaining contact information is
totally fine as long as you need it to do what you want do do. The question is
how long you have to retain it. Here you are going to retain it indefinitely,
even if there won’t be any contact at all with regards to the nomination. And
it is up to the people to ask for deletion. Another (and yes, as said, a very
European) option would be to delete this data after the survey and all
communication based on it is done. It would be great if we accept and consider
in future surveys that our views and concepts about personal data like names,
birthdays and mail addresses differ and that people may shy away from concepts
that look like collecting personal data to just have it in stock.
And I stop now. I didn’t want to hijack this initiative for a side aspect. It's
great and I'm looking forward to see great projects of our movement, done by
people in other parts of the world.

Alice.

[Wikimedia-l] Celtic Knot Conference 2020 registration and schedule now live!

2020-06-17 Thread Rebecca O'Neill
*Dear all/A chairdeWe are very excited to announce that registration

and the schedule
 are now live
for the Celtic Knot Conference 2020, taking place remotely on 9-10 July
with satellite events throughout the week of 6-12 July. The Celtic Knot
Wikimedia Language Conference aims to bring people together to share their
experiences of working on sharing information in minority languages. We aim
to help people learn how to direct the flow of information across language
barriers and support their communities. As in previous years we will have a
strong focus on Wikidata and its potential to support languages. This year,
it’s hosted by Wikimedia Community Ireland in collaboration with Wikimedia
UK. The conference will be a mixture of live streamed and pre-recorded
content also available to allow for participation and engagement across
time zones. We will have space for social activities, so that we can
connect and hopefully learn a little about Irish culture. There is also the
chance for anyone to host a satellite event

during the week of the conference to showcase projects, campaigns or other
work being done that is relevant to the conference themes. We look forward
to seeing you all in July! From the organization team,Wikimedia UK (Daria

Sounds perfectly reasonable in my opinion. Have started discussion here

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Wikimedia Clinic #001 digest and future calls

2020-06-17 Thread Rajeeb Dutta
Dear Asaf,

Thanks for your mail and for this noble initiative. Though I missed
today's meetup but I went through the links and the etherpad. I am looking
forward to being at the next Wikimedia Clinic.

Best regards,

Rajeeb.
