Re: [Wikimedia-l] Qu’est-ce qui vous rend heureux cette semaine? / What's making you happy this week? (Week of 12 Jan 2019)

2020-01-15 Thread Dennis Tobar
Hi/Hola:

The past week was merged my first commit in any Mediawiki repository 

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/operations/mediawiki-config/+/562056/

Well, it isn't a great change or contribution but I'm happy to discover how
to implement a throttle for editathons (I ask a lot of throttle rules in a
year).

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Video tutorial regarding creating Wikipedia references with VisualEditor

2019-02-26 Thread Dennis Tobar
Hi Pine:

Past year, Wikimedia Chile has created a tutorial to add references using
VisualEditor.

This material will be used this year for Wikipedia en la Universidad
(Wikipedia at University), our local program for university teachers and
students.

https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Tutoriales_WMCL_-_Agregar_referencias.webm

Anyway, new material in Spanish is welcome and you could ask us about the
"Spanish translation" due difference between some South America countries
and Spain.

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Movement Strategy: First round of Working Group members

2018-07-22 Thread Dennis Tobar
HI Nicole and Kaarel:

Thanks for your efforts. Can you add a new column per WG if the member is
"speaking" for a meta group of Affiliates (such as Iberocoop or MENA)?.
This could help us to understand some elections and the *possible*
under-representation of groups in some themes.

Thanks in advance!

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Announcement regarding Host for Wikimania 2015

2014-04-21 Thread Dennis Tobar
¡Felicitaciones a mis amigos de Wikimedia México!

Congrats Wikimedia Mexico =)

 Dear Wikimedians,

On the recommendation of the Wikimania 2015 selection Jury Committee, we
have accepted the proposal from Mexico DF to host. The proposal will be
further vetted by the WMF staff in the coming month, after which time we
hope to confirm the award. Please join us in congratulating Wikimedia
 Mexico!

We would also like to thank the teams from Cape Town and Monastir as well
for all their effort in putting together excellent proposals for our
consideration. As a volunteer-led movement, it is hugely encouraging to
have so many who want to support Wikimania. The bidding process requires a
substantial time investment, and we are most grateful for every team’s hard
 work.

For those of you who are considering hosting in future years, we expect to
issue the Request for Proposals for 2016 by September this year.

 Sincerely,

 Ellie Young, WMF Conference Coordinator
On behalf of the Wikimania Steering Committee

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Approval of WCUG Greece as Wikimedia User Group

2013-07-20 Thread Dennis Tobar
Congrats to all members and supporters of WUG Greece, welcome aboard! :)

 Dear all,

I am happy to inform you that the Affiliations Committee has recognized a
Wikimedia User Group today: Wikimedia Community User Group Greece

Please give them a warm welcome, and keep your eyes on the cool Wikimedia
 activities taking place in Greece.

 == WCUG Greece ==

WCUG Greece is a group of enthusiastic Greek Wikimedians who are
interested in organizing and participating in outreach activities on a
national level. They have been active for the past two years already, doing
among others workshops, presentations in free software events, educational
partnerships, Mediawiki Geek Day 2013 and organized an edit-a-thon recently
on el.wp as part of the World War I edit-a-thons.

The group is also working towards chapterhood in the future.

The Affiliations Committee's recognition is valid until 31 July 2014.
