[Wikimedia-l] Spam on the Wikimedia India blog (and therefore on en.planet)

Hello,

Could anyone please have a look at what's going on with the Wikimedia
India blog? There has been spam for dating sites there for several
days (if not weeks).

This is not exactly obvious when you look at the main page¹, except if
you scroll down a bit, but “ctrl+f dating” in the rss feed², or in the
planet rss feed³ and you'll see it.

Dear everyone,

The ad industry took ages to reckon they were messing things up¹,
looking only at how much money they were earning. I sincerely hope
WMF's fundraising is not following the same path. I wouldn't be honest
if I didn't write that year after year, I find the fundraising banners
more intrusive and less respectful of readers and that I observe much
more angry readers around me. No offense to whoever works on
fundraising: the issue is in the objectives the fundraising team has
to meet.

That's the whole problem, we didn't know either: if it had any impact,
it wasn't obvious. What was sure, however, is that is wasn't pretty :)
