[Wikimedia-l] Take Action for Truth during the 30th Anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi Commemoration

 Calling all Wikimedians! 

As Rwanda solemnly marks the 30th commemoration of the *1994 genocide
against the Tutsi*, we must unite against misinformation, hate speech, and
genocide denial.

Our mission as Wikimedians is to uphold truth, accuracy, and empathy in
sharing knowledge. Let's stand together to combat these harmful narratives
that seek to distort history and perpetuate division.

Join Wikimedia Rwanda <https://wikimedia.rw/> in our collective effort to:

1. Combat Misinformation: Contribute to Wikipedia articles with accurate,
verified information about the genocide and its aftermath. Fact-check and
reference sources diligently to ensure the integrity of the content.

2. Counter Hate Speech Monitor Wikipedia pages and other Wikimedia
platforms for any instances of hate speech. Take swift action to remove or
revise such content, promoting dialogue and understanding instead.

3. Challenge Genocide Denial: Engage in respectful discourse to challenge
and correct any denial or distortion of the genocide. Provide reliable
sources and verifiable evidence to reaffirm the truth of this tragic
chapter in history.

Together, let's use our platform to honor the memory of the victims,
support survivors, and contribute to a world where truth, reconciliation,
and understanding prevail.

to find and create articles on English Wikipedia related to Gender Studies
which are missing on Kinyarwanda Wikipedia.

 I'm sorry to update that our friend and colleague Deror Lin
 (user:Deror_Avi) passed away this morning.

 Deror was a truly Wikimedian in blood who poured his heart and soul
 into the movement in many ways, even in his final days. He joined Wikipedia
 in 2004 and was one of the founders of Wikimedia Israel. For over 16 years,
 he served as an active board member.

 He was the driving force behind Wikimania 2011 in Haifa and a key
 member of the Wikimania committee ever since. He led countless programs and
 projects, both locally and internationally, including conferences, WLM
 competitions, educational programs, photo and editing contests, and many
 others.

 More than that, he wrote over 8,600 articles on HEWP (comprising more
 than 2% of it!), making him the number one article writer in HEWP,

 For his huge contribution and love for the movement, he was honored
 last year as the Wikipedia Laureate of 2022.

 Deror, you were not just a colleague but a true friend. We worked
 together on many projects, events, and initiatives over the years. No
 matter the situation, you always had a smile and shining eyes with your
 love for Wikipedia.

As someone who was involved in the discussions about this initiative, I
believe it is a positive endeavor and there is no need to be concerned
about language diversity with the chosen language. This project is a trial
run, and the insights gained from its execution will guide future efforts
that will include other languages like Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Luganda, and
more.

I just had a phone call with user:Nkunda102 , he is newbie with no skills
of editing the metapage, he regrets his actions and will write a formal
