[Wikimedia-l] An Update From the Board

2020-12-06 Thread Uwe Herzke
@Pelagic:

As I just saw, that you were referring to an even older post, that was
about this section on the same talk page, the talk page on Meta about
the changes. That's the first place to look for such stuff, as that's
the most legitimate place for such discussions. Where did you expect this?

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Wikipedia coediting spaces?

2020-07-30 Thread Uwe Herzke
Hi Leinonen,

In Germany we have several kind of co-editing spaces, listed here:

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Community-Space

In addition there are as well several "Stammtische" (well, at least
usually, currently of course not):

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Treffen_der_Wikipedianer

Some are meeting online now, but most are waiting for better times
without that damned virus.

Greetings from Bremen,

Sänger

[Wikimedia-l] WMF Advisory board

2016-01-29 Thread Uwe Herzke
I fully subscribe to that notion. The board has to be equipped with
members, who are primarily selected for their adherence with the core
values of the Wikiverse, the five pillars[1]. The WMF is not, and should
never be, anything like a corporation, it's an educational charitable
non-profit NGO.

"Member of the board" is not just a job but but a trusted position based
primarily on virtue, credibility and values.

Outside advise should be fetched either ad hoc or with some kind of
standard procedure from experts, like an advisory board.
