[Wikimedia-l] Wiki Loves Sport 2019

2019-06-29 Thread camelia boban
Hi all.
One more week left for Wiki Loves Sport
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Loves_Sport> campaign to write about
(not exclusively) women in sport on Wikipedia where you are all welcomed
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Loves_Sport/Participation>. A way to
follow the matches of our national teams and write the missing (female)
biographies on Wikipedia.

Of the total 24 teams
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_FIFA_Women%27s_World_Cup_squads>
 qualified
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_FIFA_Women%27s_World_Cup_squads> for
the final tournament of FIFA Women World's Cup 2019
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_FIFA_Women%27s_World_Cup> in
France, only 4 teams will continue the competition for the semi-finals and
the final.
On Thursday, England national team beat Norway's 3-1 and yesterday the Unites
States Women's national soccer team
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_women%27s_national_soccer_team>
(current
champion) beat France 2-1, both accessing the semifinals. Italy-Netherlands
and Germany-Sweden matches will be held today.

Be bold!

Oh my Gosh Paulo, can you stop this dramma about yourself and your problem
with everything is connected with WMF?

To others, please have respect for the both parts engaged in this sad story
and do what Geert asked, stop discussing about this specific conflict
publicly.
If you want to talk more about harassment (in a generic way), then open

Thank you,

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Some goodbye to all

2019-06-20 Thread camelia boban
One way or another, as nerds, we are all weird. I felt in love with this
movement when I realized that anyone inside would not have felt a stranger.
I live in Rome, where there is the habit of hugging and / or kissing each
other on one cheek and another when we meet. In the Arab world I saw that
the kisses they give are 3. At this point, I will think twice before doing
it. In the MeeToo era we must be careful not to exaggerate, striving to
understand the difference between harassment and what can sometimes be
rudeness only or, in this case, sensitivity and affection expressed in
another way congenital to us.

Let us remember that behind what we perceive as "different" there is a
human being, with his story and his desire for interment and to be part of
something greater, a community.

I will miss you Romaine, I will miss your tenderness and I am so sorry
about how things went and how bad you are.

I don't know about you wikipedians, but I feel terribly sad. And defeat,
because I don't understand what's happening to us.

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Fram en.wp office yearlock block

2019-06-14 Thread camelia boban
I quote David and Isaac.
Harassment is a serious thing and hounding another user is out of any wiki
behavior.
Before asking why WMF has banned an admin (and if Fram was not an admin,
all these discussions would not have been done), we need to ask ourselves
why we (other users) have allowed such an attitude without intervening to
stop it.

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Feedback requested for draft code of conduct for user group

2019-05-29 Thread camelia boban
I do not understand how from a general proposal for a Code of Conduct for
user groups one goes on to talk about ideologies, personal retaliations,
irony about the politic situation of the countries of those who comment
etc.
Here we are discussing together whether or not we have a shared CoC.
We have different criteria for UG, do we have different rules for reports,
deadlines, obligations? No. So why not a CoC as much shared (and then maybe
specific CoCs for particular situations).
Sorry, but I don't see the meaning of this controversy.

Absolutely agree with Galder.
WikiMedia is not only Wikipedia. Is not just an encyclopedia, but all other
wiki projects.
And is also a movement for openness, a philosophy, a way to do things.
Means collaborations, partners, a lot of other staffs than an encyclopedia
doesn't include.

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Helene Hahn and Mirjam Stegherr appointed to the WMDE board

2019-03-04 Thread camelia boban
Hi Lucas, Helen and Mirjiam.

WMDE's approach on this appointment of two new members of the board find me
extremely happy.
Professional skills and diversity are weighty factors in our movement and
considering only non-men applications to increase the diversity could be a
suggest in all those cases of affiliates where there are no female or non
binary figures on the board.

I congratulate you on your choice, and wish you a good job with Helen and
Mirjiam to whom I wish a warm welcome in the movement.

Sincerely,
Camelia (WikiDonne UG)
