Hi all,

We have have published our Impact Report for 2016, and I would like to
draw your attention to some of the learnings and experiences we share
in this comprehensive document. It has a special focus on Wikidata and
community-centered Software Development and also covers our broad
range of non-APG funded activities.

To make it easier to discover certain fields of our work in this long
and beautiful document, I have picked some of the highlights for you.
I invite you to read the report if you would like to learn about:
* Wikidata – all the great features that were further developed and
how Wikidata is getting ready for Commons and Wiktionary[1]
* Technical Wishes Project – how an idea from WMDE is now movement
practice and all the great technical features that were developed as a
result[2]
* Advocacy – An in-depth look at our policy work and what's at stake[3]
* Open Science Fellow Program – how we want to revolutionize science
from the bottom up[4]
* New Editors – how we plan to make the onboarding of new Wikipedia
authors more lovely experience[5]
* Volunteers – how they put together the largest German-speaking
conference and are building the grid of local hubs[6]

True to our approach of being a learning partner for the movement, we
have also added a lot of shared learnings at the bottom of each
section.[7],[8]

If you are coming to WMCON in Berlin this week, feel free to reach out
to me and my colleagues directly with any questions or feedback. You
can of course also get in touch via email or the talk pages. If you
are not sure whom to best talk to, contact me and I will connect you
with my colleagues.

Happy reading!
Nicole
