Re: [Wikimedia-l] Wiki Project Med

2014-11-13 Thread Andrew Gray
It's possible to do this with a single-purpose account and Email me
when a page or file on my watchlist is changed (which was re-enabled
on enwiki a few years back). Not the most straightforward process, but
it's there; you could do it with a regular account, but you'd get
swamped fast!

A better solution would be some kind of prioritised watchlist, which
has been proposed a few times but I'm not sure if anyone's ever worked
on it.

Andrew.

Could be a good idea for wikiproject folks to work on a RSS feed of recent
changes (and recent new page creations) within a category and its subcats.
Sounds like a thing that'd increate all our participation in WikiProjects in
the first place - and resolve plenty of user retention issues.

Thanks Kirill, James and all involved.

Svetlana, presently we have

which reports all changes to articles tagged on their talk page as of
interest to WikiProjedt Medicine (about 33,000 so far). I'd like all our
medical articles to have a button at the top saying email me when this
article changes, so interested experts could easily adopt a few articles.
(But we're getting a bit off-topic here.)

Hi folks!

We're going to have an open Wiki Project Med Foundation (WPMEDF) meeting in
Hong Kong over lunch to discuss activities, next steps, and just to see
each other in person. WPMEDF works on global medical outreach through
Wikipedia. Anyone who's interested in medicine, medical education, public
health, research science, or related subjects should just pop in and join
us. We'd love to meet you.

We'll gather outside the main eating area (wherever that is) and go find a
spot to sit down and chat.

I hope to see you there!

Jake Orlowitz (Ocaasi)

*Where: Wikimania, Hong Kong (outside the main eating area)*
*When: August 10th, 1pm-2pm (lunchtime)*
