Sunshine Week is a national initiative about the importance of open government and freedom of information. This year, two library organizations, NOCALL GRC and the Sierra Nevada Chapter of SLA, are partnering with McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento to bring you a national webcast about open government followed by two speakers on freedom of information and journalism. The webcast, live from Washington D.C., is called "Opening Doors: Finding the Keys to Open Government" and will feature two panels: one consisting of Congressional and Administration policy-makers who will discuss how the government and the public can make the federal government more open, and the other consisting of individuals with expertise in making government information available in a useful format online. Following the webcast, two speakers will present: Terry Francke, General Counsel and Founder of Californians Aware, and Andrew McIntosh, a senior writer at The Sacramento Bee, where he serves as a public records and FOIA specialist. The event is Wednesday, March 25 at McGeorge, from 9:00am-1:00pm. Lunch is included, and the program costs $15.
