Dear SF Wikimedians,

This last Tuesday marked 4 years since Bassel Khartabil
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bassel_Khartabil>, much-loved Wikipedian and
open web developer, was arrested in Syria.

Tomorrow, March 19th, there will be events in many cities (including SF)
marking this unfortunate anniversary and raising awareness of his case. In
the words of Jimmy Wales
<http://www.theguardian.com/world/shortcuts/2016/mar/16/jimmy-wales-the-world-needs-to-ask-whereisbassel>
-
"the world needs to ask: #whereisbassel?"

Here in SF, *we will meet in Golden Gate Park, at the Music Concourse, at
noon*. As in other cities, we will have a life-sized cut out of Bassel that
we will take pictures with and share on social media to help raise
awareness.

Around 1:00 PM we will start walking to the Internet Archive, where we will
bring Bassel in to the *Pwning Tomorrow: Today* event taking place there
(this is a sci-fi author's panel organized by EFF:
https://www.eff.org/event/pwning-tomorrow-today).

Please come if you can, or help spread the word. Here is the link to FB
event: https://www.facebook.com/events/231411853871589/

Many thanks for your support and I hope to see some of you tomorrow.

Best,
Niki
