Hi all, I have good news. We had recently submitted a user group application to be registered as an official Wikimedia community user group. I wanted to report that the application has been accepted yesterday by the Affiliations committee and the official announcement will get posted within in a day or two on the wikimedia-l mailing list.
The community user group will allow us to receive funding from Wikimedia to provide outreach and assistance to non-Wikimedian organizations, edit-a-thons, and other events in the Georgia Piedmont region.
