My goal with this workshop is to speak about what can be done to improve the participation: * Association - Communication * Association Membership management * Transparency * Inter-member communication (tools) * Pricing * Advertising * ... So, not to overfocus onn minor languages or member meetings in Zürich or Lörach... although they are part of the discussion of course. My goal is also to try to get a consensus on a few ideas to be able to boot a few initiatives. So, I'm really happy to merge that if this match your expectations :) Emmanuel signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature ___ http://wikimedia.ch Wikimedia CH website Wikimediach-l mailing list https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediach-l

I think that fits well - the meetings themselves are not enough for a real workshop and I think that they are part of what you want to discuss. So I moved your list of topics to the wiki and integrated the meetings session. Several things on that list actually deal with structures and also belong to the staff and strategies session. Communication, transperency and membership management will improve greatly once we have launched CiviCRM (I am already working on this) and have our two french- and german-speaking community managers whose task it will be to communicate between communities, board and members and ensure information flow between the languages. I am really looking forward to see this happen because I feel that this is the biggest bottleneck we have and I think that we finally have a good solution at hand. Once this has been started we can moved forward with projects. /Manuel -- Regards Manuel Schneider Wikimedia CH - Verein zur Förderung Freien Wissens Wikimedia CH - Association for the advancement of free knowledge www.wikimedia.ch ___ http://wikimedia.ch Wikimedia CH website Wikimediach-l mailing list https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediach-l

Re: [Wikimediach-l] [GENERAL ASSEMBLY] Workshop propositions
Dear all, Would it make sense to set up the workshops as kick-off meetings of working groups which will meet in RL or online at several times over the coming months and then report back to the Board/the Members? - Some issues might be too broad to be dealt with during one afternoon and will need follow-up and active involvement of members over a longer period of time. Re: [Wikimediach-l] [GENERAL ASSEMBLY] Workshop propositions
Dear all, Beat proposal is really interesting in the light of the Board proposition to have a second GA focus on project in fall. It would be really efficient if we could be fast for the general point during the morning session, in order to save some times before lunch to organize the afternoon. If the board hasn't propose a fixed agenda for the afternoon it's to allow some adaptation to the people present and then maximize the efficiency. sincerely Charles Le 20.06.2012 15:08, Estermann Beat a écrit : Dear all, Would it make sense to set up the workshops as kick-off meetings of working groups which will meet in RL or online at several times over the coming months and then report back to the Board/the Members? - Some issues might be too broad to be dealt with during one afternoon and will need follow-up and active involvement of members over a longer period of time. I agree but there are two different views on this, I think Emmanuel's view is internal transparency and accountability. What enables members to understand what is going on, how they can be involved and be sure everything is done correctly. Better and active communications plus CiviCRM can do most of that. What you mean is transparency and accountability towards the outside, and I consider the WMF as outside here as well. Here CiviCRM is just the basis, plus a legal framework, reports, contracts, audits and all that. Two things which are connected but need to be discussed seperately, from both perspectives. /Manuel -- Regards Manuel Schneider Wikimedia CH - Verein zur Förderung Freien Wissens Wikimedia CH - Association for the advancement of free knowledge www.wikimedia.ch ___ http://wikimedia.ch Wikimedia CH website Wikimediach-l mailing list https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediach-l -- Ilario Valdelli Wikimedia CH Verein zur Förderung Freien Wissens Association pour l’avancement des connaissances libre Associazione per il sostegno alla conoscenza libera Switzerland - 8008 Zürich Tel: +41764821371 http://www.wikimedia.ch ___ http://wikimedia.ch Wikimedia CH website Wikimediach-l mailing list https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediach-l
