When using wikipedia and clicking on an image it opens up on a new page.
Wouldn't it be nice if it just scaled-up on the same page using JS. Is
there an extension there for this? and if yes why not implemented on
wikipedia?

Nischay, when you click on an image it opens up in a new page, as you are
aware. If you click on the image again all the html vanishes and only the
image remains in your browser window for you to save, etc.
The functionality is same as that from a js. Personally, I detest the js
myself.

even smaller in size. I'm guessing that's not what Nischay's looking for;
but there may be a gadget for that somewhere that someone wrote! If you
