Re: [Wikimediaindia-l] Announcement: Building a new Legal and Community Advocacy Department Promotion of Philippe Beaudette

It doesn't really mean anything for the ordinary Wikipedian. The ordinary Wikipedian doesn't even need to know the Wikimedia Foundation exists or about any of its staff members. For the ordinary Wikipedian who is a bit more involved in meta-organization like you probably are, it just means that Philippe, Maggie, and other members of this Advocacy Department are your points of contact if you need anything from the Wikimedia Foundation. You can ask them questions, give them feedback that you don't know who else to give to, etc. Their roles have already existed, and these staff members have already been in place, what's happening now is just an organizational reshuffle that puts them into their own department. -- Casey Brown Cbrown1023 ___ Wikimediaindia-l mailing list Wikimediaindia-l@lists.wikimedia.org To unsubscribe from the list / change mailing preferences visit https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediaindia-l

If you can send upto 3 contacts per each wiki, I can compile the list and put it in appropriate place. ravi Moka Pantages from the Foundation would be a good person to work with on that. If that is the case, Foundation can officially request the InRegistrar to revoke the domain from him. Casey, Please correct me if I am wrong. From what Mike told me, it depends on how India works with foreign trademarks, domain names, etc. It's hard for the Foundation to get involved until there's some kind of organization or chapter setup in India. It gets a lot more complex if the Foundation has to come in, which is why it's best to work informally with the registrar/owners first. Maybe you guys could try asking InRegistrar about this and see how far that goes? Maybe they already have a process setup for this. -- Casey Brown Cbrown1023 ___ Wikimediaindia-l mailing list Wikimediaindia-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediaindia-l
