I'm also concerned about the interpretation of the data. I would appreciate
a peer review and some comments to ensure that the data was interpreted as
impartially as possible.

Thanks

Dear all, Micru and I are finishing the reporting and the analysis for the
 survey.
You can find the work in progress here:

As we have a deadline for our IEG final report,
we would like to have this survey report finished as well.

So, we are asking you few things:
 * please check if there are some data and things that still need to be
 translated
 * give us feedback on the analysis
 * tell us what you think.

It's crucially important that you can help us as soon as possible (for
 example, for the translation).

 Thanks.

Re: [Wikisource-l] Wikisource survey active and ready to be public

Hi,

is there any page containing short information about the idea behind
this survey and maybe the main people involved in it? Then, we could
link (and/or translate) this page on our local Wikisources. This way,
users could inform theirselves and maybe get more motivated to answer
the survey.

Just in case somebody missed Aubrey's email, this is a reminder that
the survey is active and ready to be published in the different
 Wikisource project chats.

Thanks a lot to all translators for all the work done, and so quickly!

 Thanks!
We are now getting Catalan and Spanish translastion (and already have
 English, French, Hindi, Italian).

Are you sure there is no one willing to translating it into (at least)
 German or Polish?
It only needs 1 hour of your time (totally), and the more you are the
 quicker it gets.

Hi all.
The survey has been translated already in Italian and French, and is being
translated in Hindi.
Is somebody else interested in translating it in another language?
Do you have any more feedback?

Otherwise, we'll launch it as soon as the last translations are completed.

Re: [Wikisource-l] Wikisource survey

2013-10-07 Thread Thomas

Hi!
The survey looks good.
I'm volunteer to translate it into to French if no one ants to do it.
Is it possible to add a short introduction paragraph at the beginning of the
survey that explains why it's important?
Thanks,
Thomas

 Dear all,
this is the survey finally implemented on Qualtrics:
 https://wikimedia.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_6taoDVAWcg6vSIZ

I'd like to receive the last round of feedbacks from you:
you can actually do the survey, but keep in mind that if we edit it
afterwards the results will be probably lost (as they get invalid if I edit
 the structure of the survey).
So do at your own risk, you might need to do it again :-)

At the moment, I think the survey will be just in English.
It can be translated, but since the answers and feedbacks are coming to
 slowly,
me and David can't really wait too much, as the deadline of our IEG is coming
(end of October, but we asked for an extension).

The issue is that we really want some results to write a final report which
consider all the gathered data: in our opinion it would be much more
 effective.
Our final report would ask the WMF and other Chapters or institutions to fund
software development for Wikisource, and the survey is aimed, among other
things, to decide *where* to direct those funds (if we will ever get those).

 But here's the deal:
if you think the survey should be translated (that means that you like it,
and you think it's a good opportunity for Wikisource community to reflect on
itself), and volunteer for translating it in the next week, we could do that
 together.

In our opinion, the survey itself could be linked from the sitenotice in
every Wikisource, but that will be a decision of the community.

We really hope you believe this is a great opportunity for everyone is
 interested in Wikisource's future.

2013-09-19 Thread Andrea Zanni
The question is not stupid at all,
I was not clear enough.

*That is the survey draft*.

The real survey will be powered by Qualtrics, a software used by the
Wikimedia Foundation.
I will implement the edited survey in Qualtrics and then send you the final
link.

So, right now, you are not asked to reply, but just to improve the survey.

sufficient. But perhaps you'll think to a signed (and commented) reply to
 questions.

 2013/9/19 Andrea Zanni zanni.andre...@gmail.com

  Dear all,
me and David (plus John, Tpt, Candalua, and now *you*)
are preparing this survey to know more about what WS editors know and
think about Wikisource and its future:

 https://wikisource.org/wiki/Wikisource_vision_development/Open_community_poll

You are welcome to come and edit the survey, adding questions you feel as
important or gjust giving us some feedback.

We feel that data gathered from this survey could be crucial to
understand a bit what the gloabal community wants and how to reach that.
Me and Micru would use the data to write a document to present to WMF and
other organizations (Wikimedia chapters, OKFN, etc.).

With the help of the whole Wikisource community, our aim is to draft a
proposal for the development of some core features.
We strongly believe that if the Wikisource community can express his
opinion on this, the WMF (or other entities) will be able to finally
dedicate some resources to improve Wikisource infrastructure.

This is why is crucial that everyone interested step in and improve the
 survey.
After that, we will be able to promote it in all Wikisources, and wait
 for editors to respond.

Please, tell me what you think about it.
