Awesome to see this happen (and with such a strong team)! MediaWiki core
was the most painful gap in WMF's organizational focus for the last three
years, thanks to everyone who helped fill it.

Hello everyone,
I am pleased to share with you the news about the formation of the latest team
in the Technology department, the MediaWiki Platform team![1]
The MediaWiki Platform team will be tasked with leading maintenance
I'm very happy with this development and look forward to seeing the team at
work. I don't think anyone really understood and supported the demise of
the old Platform team, though I think many recognised that it was
experiencing problems.
I hope to see a strong focus on making MediaWiki a platform
