As far as I know, the big features are only in Vector, but core styles have
also received a few tweaks.

Yep that's right. They are also feature flagged. There are also some in
MediaWiki:Print.css

Most of the styles in Vector could be applied to all skins if that's useful
provided they can be overridden (via getDefaultModules ) but that's not a
priority right now whole we get these tested and easily done later on.

Minerva doesn't need these styles for instance.

An optional core module might be good here - like the external links
one, the ones with all the content object styles, etc.

[Wikitech-l] CREDIT showcase - replacing with smaller demos

2017-08-30 Thread Adam Baso
Hello -

I'm writing today to let you know that we're cancelling the recurring
CREDIT showcase (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/CREDIT_showcase). Turnout
has been relatively low for a while, and it requires a fair amount of setup
each month.

Going forward, we'll return to the previous approach, which was having
individual teams sharing demo videos on their own. Please be on the lookout
for such demos along the way on wikitech-l.

In closing, I'd like to thank everyone who's participated in CREDIT in the
past. I've appreciated all of the hard work that goes into planning these
events and the neat things you've all shared along the way.

Thank you.

[Wikitech-l] [CoC] Call for feedback on the proposed amendments

2017-08-30 Thread Amir Ladsgroup
Hello,
Based on the text of Code of Conduct in technical spaces "Every three
months, the Committee collects the ideas proposed (if any) and organizes a
call for feedback announced in the main technical spaces." [0]

This is our first call for feedback on the proposed amendments and we
humbly ask you to chime in and help us make the code of conduct better.
Voice them in the talk page of the code of conduct.

The proposed amendments are:
* Explicitly mentioning Tool Forge (formally known as tool labs) in the CoC
[1]
* Including GitHub-hosted projects that are connected to the Wikimedia
community [2]
* Removing the part allowing discrimination when it's required by law. [3]
* Adding a part of mentioning impersonation as an unacceptable behavior. [4]
