[Wikitech-l] Re: [Ops] Gerrit upgrade Thursday 01/11 at 9am UTC

2024-01-22 Thread Zoran Dori
Hello,
the interface itself (when you go to status:open) looks a bit confusing to
me, because there are new columns (Status and etc).
I'm not going to remove that, because it's a useful feature.

I'm not complaining, everything looks great to me, it takes some time to
get used to new things. :)

However, thanks for great work like always, I really appreciate it!

Best regards,
Zoran

Hello,

It is hard to tell what you find weird there, but I suspect it might be
due to some extra columns or missing ones. The columns can be adjusted
in our user preferences:

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/settings/#ChangeTableColumns

The columns are:

- Number
- Subject
- Owner
- Reviewers
- Repo
- Branch
- Updated
- Size
- Status

I don't have any complaints. I'm looking forward to seeing Gerrit upgraded to
3.8. 
Eventually it will happen. I have only had a a quick look at the
upstream change log and filed https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T354886

Hello,
Gerrit 3.7 looks amazing to me, although
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/q/status:open+-is:wip looks a bit weird to me,
but I'll get used to it.

I don't have any complaints. I'm looking forward to seeing Gerrit upgraded to
3.8. :)

Best regards,

Hello,

I will be *upgrading Gerrit* from the 3.5 series (which is end of
life) to the 3.6 series. I have scheduled the upgrade for *Thursday
January 11st at 9am UTC*. It is immediately after the UTC morning
backport & config window.

The upgrade will require the Gerrit service to be stopped for the
duration of the upgrade. I do not anticipate any issue and the service
should be back up in half an hour.

Gerrit 3.6 introduces Submit Requirements

which would let us tune what is required for a change to be merged by
Gerrit. I do not plan to make any change to the default rule, but the
requirements (such as a change having Code-Review +2 and Verified +1)
would show up in the GUI which will make it easier to understand what
is missing.

There are lot of other smaller changes in the upstream release notes:

https://www.gerritcodereview.com/3.6.html

The upgrade task: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T309870

Deployment calendar entry
.

Hello,

I have completed the upgrade and Gerrit is back up. If anything feels
off please reach out on IRC #wikimedia-releng and/or file a task in
Phabricator against #Gerrit :-)
