fixed and legoktm gave me a few good pointers on how to make the PHP

Me
Hi all,
I've been working on enhancing the Theme extension [1] to add a
preference option so that registered users can set their preferred
theme [2], just like how they can set a skin and other such options.
The theme selector is shown on Special:Preferences, below the list of
available skins,

Hi all,
I'm Jack Phoenix [1], a MediaWiki developer whose primary interests are
social tools [2] and skinning [3]. Skinning, especially when related to
core MediaWiki, is a rather esoteric area where we don't have much
developer capacity, the skinning system is obscure and not well-documented
direction, which effectively made it possible to fix this
issue. Of course, I'm sure that our hardcore gadget users would very much
want their gadgets back and preferrably right away, so that'll be the next
step...

via [[Special:Preferences]], the
special page claims that the changes were saved correctly, but this is not
the case. It seems that the only entries saved to user_properties are
'variant' and 'watchlisttoken'.
Setting a preference via eval.php seems to work:
$u = User::newFromName( 'Jack Phoenix
../resources.txt
$ git log --format=format:%an --no-merges skins/ | sort -u ../skins.txt
$ comm -23 ../skins.txt ../resources.txt

Let me just state this for the record: I find copyright paranoia and
associated acts, such as this very thread with 59 (and counting
motivation for committing code to core MW and for that, the setup is to
be thanked.)

To those who don't know me yet, hi! I'm Jack Phoenix, and I've been a
MediaWiki developer since May 2008.
One of the major third-party users of the MediaWiki software is wikiHow (
http://www.wikihow.com/), a free how-to manual.
In my opinion, wikiHow rocks! (No, I don't work for wikiHow and I
this into a separate thread instead of hijacking
this...

I'd actually like to eliminate legacy skins altogether. They show up and
throw a thorn into skin improvements repeatedly.
