Re: [WinPcap-users] win98SE system freeze

2005-04-18 Thread Loris Degioanni
All the WinPcap releases, including the latest beta, still contain the
Windows 9x (95/98/ME) driver, and therefore can run WinPcap on these
operating systems. However, we (the WinPcap team) don't provide support
for this driver, i.e. we don't fix its bugs and we don't improve it any
more. The sources too are still available in the current winpcap tree.

Hi Loris, thank you for the answer. May I ask you, what was the
last WinPcap release to support Win98SE and whether it would be
possible to get it?

We (like MS, by the way) don't support Windows 95/98/ME any more. We

supporting the WinNTx versions. Therefore, WinPcap for Win9x must be
taken as is. Of course, we accept patches.

Hi, I downloaded windump 3.6.2 and downloaded and installed
WinPcap 3.1 beta 4 on my Win98SE. Starting
   windump -D
from the run menue causes the system to freeze.

Remark 1: I tried also with WinPcap 3.0 (as the dependence on
WinPcap 3.1 beta 4 is not mentioned) and got this msg:
The WINDUMP.EXE file is linked to missing export
  WPCAP.DLL:pcap_dump_flush

Remark 2: Same problem symptom with WinPcap / ethereal for
both WinPcap versions: 3.0 _and_ 3.1 beta 4 !
