We've
used many of the Nortel Instant Internet 100S units available on eBay for under
$50.
They
have several WAN interfaces, andcan create many moreinterfaces

using
external switches and can often be found with ISDN or dial-up as a third
interface
for
backup. I use it at home with one WAN to the cable modem, the second to a
DSL
as
backup for my home Internet and VoIP use. The are 100Mb wire speed and
also
support IPSEC.

Only a really dumb scammer (but I repeat myself...) would use his home

(On paper, all domains are supposed to have accurate and current contact

Actually, the WHOIS data made me do a few double-takes. Note that

that's easy. Are you looking for load-balancing, or automatic failover,

Re: [WISPA] Atheros 5213 PCI Card Keeps Breaking

2006-06-02 Thread Rich Comroe

Couldn't say for sure, but I have a suspicion -
static discharge in the antenna. Worked on Canopy at Motorola. At
one time they used an antenna coupling circuit that was highly static sensitive
(at the antenna). They reworked the antenna couplingto make it less
succeptible. If these cards are not explicitly designed for outdoor use
then I'd suspect this. When the antenna coupler pops you get a high
insertion loss to the antenna (power going in or out suffers). This seems
to fit your symptoms. I'm not a ham, and don't have any suggestions on how
to reduce the potential for static discharge in the antenna to pop an antenna
coupler on the board. But I'd check ifthe antenna mount is
grounded to the same ground as the radio board.

2006-06-02 Thread Sam Tetherow
I believe it is EBays policy to duplicate every official email on their
site. So if you get something that looks like it is from ebay, you
should log into ebay and check to see if you have the same email in
their 'My Messages' system. Needless to say you should log into ebay
by going to www.ebay.com and not by clicking on the link in the email ;)

If you go to their Help secion #1 on the list is How do I know that an
email is really from eBay?

...
eBay will *never *ask you to provide account numbers, passwords or
other sensitive information through email. If eBay does request
information from you, a copy of that email will be in the My Messages
box in My eBay. If you have any doubt that an email really is from eBay,
open a new browser window, type www.ebay.com, and sign in. Any email
that looks as if it is from eBay, mentions a problem with your account
or requests personal information, and is not in My Messages in My eBay,
is a spoof (fake) email.

*Net Neutrality and the eBay Community: A Call to Action*

 Dear xxx,

As you know, I almost never reach out to you personally with a request
to get involved in a debate in the U.S. Congress. However, today I feel
 I must.

Right now, the telephone and cable companies in control of Internet
access are trying to use their enormous political muscle to
dramatically

change the Internet. It might be hard to believe, but lawmakers in
Washington are seriously debating whether consumers should be free to
use the Internet as they want in the future.

The phone and cable companies now control more than 95% of all Internet
access. These large corporations are spending millions of dollars to
promote legislation that would divide the Internet into a two-tiered
system.

 The top tier would be a Pay-to-Play high-speed toll-road
restricted to

only the largest companies that can afford to pay high fees for
 preferential access to the Net.

The bottom tier -- the slow lane -- would be what is left for everyone
else. If the fast lane is the information super-highway, the slow
lane

will operate more like a dirt road.

Today's Internet is an incredible open marketplace for goods, services,
information and ideas. We can't give that up. A two lane system will
restrict innovation because start-ups and small companies -- the
companies that can't afford the high fees -- will be unable to succeed,
and we'll lose out on the jobs, creativity and inspiration that come
 with them.

The power belongs with Internet users, not the big phone and cable
companies. Let's use that power to send as many messages as possible to
our elected officials in Washington. Please join me by clicking here
http://click3.ebay.com/306460395.64016.0.94684 right now to send a
message to your representatives in Congress before it is too late. You
 can make the difference.

Thank you for reading this note. I hope you'll make your voice heard
today.

 Sincerely,

 Meg Whitman

Nor am I defending Hyperlinktech, as we don't have enough business experience with them, to have a valid opinion. but...This isn't retail HomeDepot that we are talking about, this is distribution. In my 10 years experience previously in the distribution business, I can tell you there are not many companies that give "refunds." We also found that the companies that couldn't understand why "refunds" was bad business for distributors, usually were the ones that didn't do enough volume to matter wether we lost them. I'm not saying that Ipersonally do not believe in giving refunds. I also believe its best practice totake care of the customer, in most cases. But that does not change the factthat most dealers do NOT give refunds. Tessco, Talley. Hutton, Electrocomm. They may give refunds, but there significant hassle in getting it, that in most cases will be more costly to the buyer in time than the value of the refund. They also usually charge a higher profit margin on every sale thanthe smaller distributor that is competing on price, and therefore hasmore margin to justify eating the cost to give the refund. I bet the price received from Hyperlinktech was significantly less than that the Tesscos or Hutton's would have charged? When price drops, terms gets tougher. A distributor must determine which business they want to be in, and they can't be in both successfully. If in the price market they need to have price policies. Descretionneeds to be taken out of the set policies, otherwise its impossible to manageRMA processes. There are many reasons strict policies need to be inforced for Refunds 1.
