I have to put a vote in for The Dude. After playing with Nagios, Solarwinds and PRTG, and flirting a bit with Cacti, I stick with MikroTik, just for the flexibility. Once you take the time to learn the ins and outs, just like RouterOS, TheDude will do just about anything. The ITU method is overly simplified. Many would argue Crane's method was more accurate. ( For the sheer sake of argument) We have found bay fog to be far better at disruption than any rains we have here. Even tidal shifts on open water shots don't mess with our links as much as bay fog does. When it rains here, it can really freaking rain. we get some pretty big storms. I just don't want to give people false hope. Make sure you have a back up if it must be up all the time. we had one outage last 45 minutes due to rain along the path. others were 7-15 minutes. frustrating. I also have a 12 miles 11Ghz link on 3' dishes running -43 that dropped in the rain (again, hard rain, all along the path) Here is my AF24. signal is moving a bit. Re: [WISPA] AirFiber Snow issues
Snow is RF transparent (virtually). Melting, wet snow can attenuate the signal at 24ghz pretty well. Here in Alaska we hardly ever have an AF24 go down, and we are right on the coast. It's going to depend on the type of weather you commonly have and the distance of the link. Re: [WISPA] Tech raises
When I was at TWC, it was 0-5% unless you changed positions. It's an easy system. I think in a small business, it's better to have a more flexible reward scheme for really valued employees, as it makes it much more likely they will continue to give 110% and continue to help improve the business, which is a net positive for everyone. If they don't do that already... 0-5% is easy. On 01/09/2015 02:12 PM, Josh Luthman wrote: What kind of raises is everyone else going? Primarily looking at service call/installer/tower hand guy. Re: [WISPA] AirFiber Snow issues
Yea !... But I will argue the Murphy's method is even more accurate... If you Airfiber link drops in rain then .. you have 24ghz Rain Fade.. If your Airfiber link does not drop in rain then you have no 24ghz Rain Fade... For the sheer sake of argument ! Comparing how my link does when compared with yours in 24ghz is plain silly... But Comparing complete statements such as my 24ghz Link, which is X miles long, in Rain Zone or Region (state your region) does (or does not) drop in Rain would be a more meaningful statement... Anything else is just shooting the breeze at the water cooler.. :) Happy Friday Everyone !
