Re: [WISPA] Update - Las Vegas TDWR Interference - Source Located
What brand of equipment is this? On 12/22/2011 1:56 PM, Jack Unger wrote: Many of you offered assistance to help us respond to the FAA Emergency request regarding severe interference to the Las Vegas Terminal Doppler Weather Radar system a few weeks ago. I would have liked to provide you with feedback sooner however our FAA contact person was on leave and only got back to us today. Here is what he said in his email. Sorry I have been out of the office. The transmitter for a wireless video surveillance at a storage lot was located. Thank you everyone for your support. The FAA also forwarded two photos at the location of the offending equipment. Those photos are attached. Hopefully the successful conclusion of this incident will be an eye-opener for the FCC, the FAA and also for us in the WISP industry. The FCC and the FAA can see that there are other unlicensed users (not just WISPs) of the shared 5 GHz bands and that, for the most part, the WISP industry is made up of responsible users of this shared, unlicensed spectrum. We, as responsible spectrum users are reminded that to protect our privilege of using unlicensed spectrum, we may need to reach out to other non-WISP users of this spectrum and help them understand the need to be aware of and to follow FCC rules. By responsibly and respectfully educating other users, we will not only maximize our chances of maintaining our use of currently-allocated unlicensed spectrum but we will also maximize our chances of gaining additional shared, unlicensed spectrum in the future. Again, thanks to everyone for your positive suggestions and assistance. Respectfully, Jack Unger Chair - WISPA FCC Committee 818-227-4220 -- Jack Unger - President, Ask-Wi.Com, Inc.
