I don't use silicone on anything, the enclosures have a bead of dielectric grease on the door seals to help keep rust from forming where the gasket meets the metal. Kurt Fankhauser WAVELINC P.O. That's not a barrel connector it is a PolyPhaser surge surpressor. I've never had an issue with water getting in a connector in 4 years of sealing this way. Re: [WISPA] new site install pictures
Yes the battery tender (actually power tender) works great. It is 12v at 5amps so it can do about 60 watts. It keeps the battery topped off and from over charging and when the power goes out the equipment keeps running from the battery. Also when the power goes out it has circuitry that keeps it from power backwards and draining the battery. I am doing this on 5 tower sites and it works great. I get the power tenders from batterymart.com cause they are only like $80 there and the battery's from ebay are like $40 a piece and that setup will depending on load run from 6-12 hours maybe longer I don't know and the whole setup is under $150 Kurt Fankhauser WAVELINC P.O. Hi, Looks very nice... I did notice a couple things that we have seen in our environment that may or may not be an issue. The first is the weatherproof on the LMR jumper cables. We have found that we have to seal all the way up against the plastic case on the antenna, otherwise water will eventually penetrate into the seal. The other thing is using an RJ45 barrel connector inside your outdoor box. We've had many of them fail after a year or two (in our environment, it's probably due to the large temperature swings in summer vs. winter. We see -30F in the winter and up to 105F in the summer).
