Tranzeo followed the RFC by rebooting with whatever frame it was sent,

 Marlon,

I thought the Tranzeo/MT problem was a Mikrotik issue, fixed by their
update. (Tranzeo did a work-around, but it wasn't their bug) Or is
 there some other problem?

Oh, www.tranzeo.com is working for me, now.

Re: [WISPA] tranzeo's web site?

2008-12-22 Thread Steve Barnes
Other way around (from what was stated from MT) Tranzeo did not follow
all the 802.11 protocol to the letter. Mikrotik in 3.15 came up with a
work around. I have 3.16 on 4 towers so far and works great with
Tranzeo. One has 40 Clients and some of them have been up for 45 days
without a reboot.

My wish is that there was a standard where the Device name in Tranzeo
units would show up as the radio name on MT AP's. Guess that is what
you get with different vendors.

support.tranzeo.com is back up now.

Thats why I use the same product for my cpe as the ap. I'm star so it's
star both ends and it is like pulling teeth to convince me to use
something else no matter how much cheaper.

If your MT you should seriously consider only MT for your cpe's. Then
you know the compatability issue will be rare.

2008-12-22 Thread Josh Luthman
I know I could agree with no compatibility problems while using MT at
both ends, however you still run into MT-only problems or limits.

While this isn't directly WISP related, using RouterOD you are limited
to one partition for everything. With Dude runnig there you (at this
time) can't backup with a 128mb disk/storage device. I would expect
256MB to work, however I can't vouche.

Obviously use whatever works best for your environment, but one of the
major reasons I have stayed in the 802.11 environment is BECAUSE I can
use differing vendors. I think that most 802.11 stuff loses it's appeal
when you cannot mix and match equipment. If I was looking to spend
$200+/cpe with a vendor lock in at this stage in the game I would go
with Moto.

I've also been told that Moto does a great job with their wireless network
gear (as we can all tell they've got their hands in every wireless market).
I have yet to ever run it, though.

I would be willing to pay the extra for the AP (I've a pretty dense CPE
to AP ratio). The larger number of customers per AP would be worth it
for me. I have places that I could easily put 120 customer per AP and I
have 2 towers with more than 200 customer each on them spread across
Vert and Horizontal 2.4 and 5.8 sectors. Kind of hard to justify the
upgrade cost now although I'm having to rework some spots moving
customers to 5.2G because I've run out of usable spectrum.

The $200.00 cpe isn't as much the attraction as the $200.00 or less AP.

 That's hard to swallow adding $1k + per ap. I have 100's of ap's. I put
 them everywhere.
It's the only reason I don't go proprietary is the affordable ap.

Nothing particular right now. I was just checking for any new versions.

Well, I guess I would sure like a fix for the Tranzeo/MT problem. Not the

And for Christmas I want a firmware for the Tranzeo AP's that doesn't lock
up!
