Re: [WISPA] Adelstein backs Open Access 700
Open access never will come close to replacing, a carrier's ability to share the spectrum with their own gear or own their spectrum. I don't want to support anything that gives a fake sense of security for competition. Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein, a Democrat, said he supports the idea of imposing an open-access condition on companies bidding to acquire part of the spectrum. http://www.reuters.com/article/governmentFilingsNews/idUSN2018478420070620 -- WISPA Wireless List: wireless@wispa.org Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://lists.wispa.org/mailman/listinfo/wireless Archives: http://lists.wispa.org/pipermail/wireless/

Supporting open-access and the ability to do something about it, are two different things coming out of the mouth of an FCC Commissioner. Both Cmr's Adelstein and Copps provided all kinds of support for open competition and a level playing field for wholesale line-sharing, where are we now? You still have a Republican FCC and with the Presidential election just around the corner, it's politics galore so get used to it during the next 16 months. Are you really ready for the Politics of it all? Frank Muto Co-founder - Washington Bureau for ISP Advocacy - WBIA www.wbia.us - Original Message - From: Peter R. Ok, The whole idea is a bone tossed to the small fry. If you are going to make it ISM, make it ISM. Otherwise, please don't pee on me and tell me it is raining. That just upsets me. Lets review the Verizon deal of the past three years. First they were required to let the small fry purchase DSL circuits at whole sale costs. Then they were allowed to decide what whole sale meant. RE: [WISPA] Adelstein backs Open Access 700
The truth of the matter is pretty easy to cipher looking at the past with anyone being able to resale DSL..etc, but now the Telco's are not having to allow DSL to be resold over their lines. Things change, politicians change, policy changes - - nothing is forever! This shared wireless access/ network made available to be resold crap has to be put off till we see what happens with the spectrum yet to be auctioned. If the RBOCs fall in here and buy up/run the price out of range for the local WISPs that will put a whole new spin on everything. The rest of my comments are with held at this point in time on the grounds I may incriminate myself!
