Here is one fast growing WISP operator! Eric Merkel from MetaLINK
Technologies, Inc. has joined up as WISPA's newest Principal Member. I
am so happy to see such a broad range of WISPs becoming part of WISPA.
We have many operators of various sizes joining now every week and our
combined customer bases will soon be able to show regulators, investors,
legislators, etc. that WISPs are a much more important part of the
entire broadband industry than many would have believed. I want to
personally thank Eric and all from MetaLINK Technolgies for making the
decision to support WISPA and look forward to working with you to
promote and improve the WISP industry. Here is a little background on
Eric and MetaLINK:
MetaLINK Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1996 as a dial-up ISP in
Northwest Ohio by myself (Eric Merkel), Todd Harpest and Julie Latham.
Over the past 11 years, MetaLINK has expanded its service offerings to
include Web Hosting, DSL, Network Consulting and Administration,
CLEC/Dial-up Wholesaling and of course Broadband Fixed Wireless in 2002.
MetaLINK's wireless coverage area
(http://wireless.metalink.net/ml_coverage.jpg) is mainly in Northwest
Ohio but we also reach into Northeastern Indiana and Southeastern
Michigan. We serve both residential and business customers using a
variety of unlicensed frequencies (900Mhz, 2.4GHz, 5.8Ghz). To date we
have over 2500 wireless subscribers and are adding over a 100 new
accounts per month.
MetaLINK is excited to now be a part of WISPA. WISPA's lobbying and
other efforts are finally giving the small WISP's voice in Washington.
