Re: [WISPA] Tools for making LMR400 N connectors...

Oh man. The right tools makes this soo easy!

Call Mark B at ec. 800.525.0173 (also cc'd on this message)

Here's what you want.

Propane torch
Toenail clippers. Scissors type.
LMR 400 stripper
Deburring tool
Razor knife
LMR 400 crimper (don't need the fancy one that'll do LMR 600 or other sizes,
just get the $40ish one)
Don't waste time with any connectors other than the Times Microwave EZ ones.
They have a captive center pin, very easy and fast to CORRECTLY assemble.

Then view this video:

More GREAT stuff here:

Have fun.

I am looking for tools to / kits for LMR400 N connectors. I was recently
given a few hundred feet of LMR400 and I am always in need of short runs
of

cable here and there.

What kits/tools do you use?

Where can I get these tools/kits/parts?

Why do you like the ones you have?

Ryan:

To make the connectors; I use four tools;

1 small Cresent wrench
1 box wrench
1 box cutter
1 small butane power soilder tip

A whopping $3.00 woth of tools.

I only use amphenol brand connectors. There is really no need to buy an
expensive dipole solidering forceps; unless you will have another use
for such an expensive piece of equipment. Other than that it is the
basics... Read the cutback measurements for your connectors and you will
not have a problem.

Re: [WISPA] Tools for making LMR400 N connectors...

2007-08-03 Thread George Rogato
One advice of caution, buy the stripper crimper from the same place that
sells the connectors.

Not all connectors are the same.

for the record, I use electro com and buy my tools from them as well as
the times ez's for 5 gig and 2 gig and the cheaper crimp /crimp aluminum
connectors for 2 gig only.
