For a quick check I use the Fluke Networks LinkSprinter 200 Ethernet Network
Tester, (Not what you originally asked, but I like to hear myself talk)
I installed wireless here in the 90’s and it has only metastasized everywhere
since. (I keep a 10 meg ½ duplex behind my desk to scare the newbies)
I was notified the AP -505’s I ordered will not be available until late
September, early October.

Everything came back up without a fuss.
If I had a gripe as I worked through the 4 controllers the AP's did not
redistribute themselves until I rebooted the last controller.

from a copy of Computer Shopper magazine.

We are still providing 1 port per pillow in the residence halls.
In addition in new construction and renovations over the last 4 or 5 years we
have been using CAT 6A wiring and Aruba AP-305's and occasionally AP-304's.
As expected an AP every 2 or 3 rooms depending on the construction.
