I've not encountered any issues with Spectrum XT nor Survey Pro. I'll need to
double check with Analyzer & verify the version of Win 10 running on the tablet.

Check their release notes, but I don't think you'll run into any issues.

RE: [WIRELESS-LAN] tablet for site survey work

2016-02-17 Thread Jason Cook
We have a motion J3500, it's quite heavy but connect-a-desk works well and
no matter how light a device is you still want something to rest on for all but
the smallest surveys. We use the stylus for surveys and disable hand
recognition as it seems better for accuracy and certainly easier if you don't
have to hover your hand off the screen.

The only real advantage from this device is probably if you need long battery
life. It has dual hot swappable power supplies and we have a 3rd with external
charger. So you can survey 24/7 if your crazy enough.

To elaborate on my surface with a mouse... I use the stylus to click for
surveying and the mouse to operate the menus when saving and verifying.

Does anyone with a Surface have recommendations for battery life? The yoga
gives me much more time surveying before having to charge.

We have a Microsoft Surface Book and use as a convertible for site surveys. So
far it works well and the stylus is great for surveys.

Same here. I’ve played around with Ekahau. It has some nice features and a
slightly different approach, but I’m so used to walking around with AirMagnet

We have ESS, chose it over AirMagnet (did check both out) a few years back as
the 3rd party we were dealing with to help get us on track for understanding RF

No complaints.

I know that I will get about 4 hours on a full charge (SP3) with the Ekahau
nics and spectrum analyzer running in addition to the on-board nic, have not

Does anyone with a Surface have recommendations for battery life? The yoga

Re: [WIRELESS-LAN] tablet for site survey work

2016-02-17 Thread Hinojosa,Rafael
Old survey gear were a pair of Lenovo T61s. I purchased a connect-a-desk
(http://tinyurl.com/4jjg6w) after my first few survey’s w/ the T61 cuz, well,
they’re heavy.

I’ll 2nd the Surface Pro 3. I didn’t go the mouse option, cuz I’m not sure how
that would work. I did get an enclosure w/ a hand grip, the Incipio Capture
(http://tinyurl.com/pofnyf7) - its not bad, the hand grip is really nice, but
its construction materials could be better, IMO. The Surface will eventually
start to feel heavy, but it isn’t as extreme a workout as the T61s were & the
hand grip on the Incipio is nice.

2nd Survey Laptop is a Dell Latitude E7450. Its nice & light, but I'll still
use the connect-a-desk w/ it on long surveys for ease of use.

Both of them have Fluke’s multi-adpater kit & I have one of their Spectrum
Analyzer USB cards that I can swap back & forth as needed. Thinking about
getting a Wi-Spy DBx & Channalyzer just to have another spectrum option
available.
