I dispensed with the generator.
I use lead-acid batteries, a charger which is automatic in that it peaks the
lead acid cells now and then, and run everything off an inverter.

Well, I'm still at the point where the money in my checkbook is worth
more than my time. I guess I can get 6 of the others and tolerate the
noise and run around with fuel. 6 sites with backup is better than one
"fancy" one.

Hi,
Personally I would recommend something more like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/YAMAHA-inverter-GENERATOR-EF1000i-1000-watts_W0QQitemZ7542967545QQcategoryZ106437QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
No need for a battery backup system, you can plug directly into it. Much
quieter, more fuel effe
Cheapest on froogle.

Run it through a battery backup and call it good???
Would 1000 Watts run a couple computers and radios?

Where do you get your generators? It's not like they need a ton of
juice. Small ones maybe? Can they be had pretty cheap? My noc is
small and requires not too much power.
