Not sure if you already have the CAT3 put in and that's why you're looking for a copper solution, but we just did a 975ft run using some cheap multi-mode fiber (scored a 1100ft roll for $60 on eBay) and a $50-$60 pair of ethernet-SC media converters. That obviously will give you better throughput and you're looking at about the same price if you're looking at sources like ebay.
