Re: [WISPA] WISP Training

And join WISPA. Spend time on these lists.

You may want to hire a consultant to help you get started. I think that the
choice of a consultant or not is an ecconomic one. I told my customers that
the average consultant is going to cost roughly $3000 to $4000 by the time
you fly one out and put him up etc. A good consultant will have you 3 to 4
months of startup time. So calculating the likely value of a consultant you
should take your realistic customer income 12 months from your startup date.
Multiply that by 2 (you'll still have 1 to 2 months of startup time with a
consultant) and you'll see the savings a good consultant should bring you.
If it'll cost more for the consultant than you'll make I think you should
learn by doing instead of hiring help.

Hope that helps,
marlon

I am new to the WISP arena. My background is in SAN NAS deployments.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any training classes coming up soon on
 the West Coast.

 Thanks,

 Pat

Butch,

Since you guide people to training I was wondering if there is a down
and dirty course on getting the best out of Microtik radios, including
programming, diagnosing problems and optimizing the features. I have
found some but they are usually a grand and last for months. I'd like
to find something a bit lower and quicker, any ideas?

Thanks,

Actually, Forbes, I will let ya in on a little secret. Just don't
tell anyone. ;-) I am nearly done with some very unique training
courses. Each will be very short and will cover very specific
topics. The method to access this information is an upcoming
announcement, but should be very soon (about a month). I can tell
you that you will see more than just Mikrotik resources, too.

You can make suggestions for topics you'd like to see if you like.
I set up a temporary wiki site at http://wiki.butchevans.com/.

What type of training are you looking for? Jack has already
mentioned his commercial training. He is very well know for his RF
training. There are many other training opportunities out there as
well...just need to know what you are looking for.
