I can transport from the Westin in Seattle for $3k per month. But
that's
still nearly twice what we're paying out today. grin

Re: [WISPA] customer bandwidth ratio

2009-09-28 Thread Mike Hammett
There's only a couple fiber paths near Marlon that can get him back to
Seattle. He says he can't get access to them. I haven't checked myself.
;-)

HE.net is cheaper now. ;-) $1.50/meg on a GigE if you bring your own ASN,
IPv4, and IPv6 allocations. $4/meg on FE.

No luck involved. It's the same business plan we came up with in 1999.
Only the gigs per month (up to 10 gigs now, started at 3) have changed.

Think about it. What else can you buy for one price? Do you get your
electricity for a flat rate? Water? Clothes? Food? Gas? Tires?
Anything? Oh yeah, local phone calls. Other than that??

Why in the world is this industry stuck in a business model that ONLY works

Can you fix those graphs to retain the maximum 5 minute value for each
of the successively averaged down periods? With it all wrapped up in
the Mikrotik stuff, you may not have access to that option.

In MRTG speak:

WithPeak[_]: wmy

That way you can see how much peak bandwidth you *actually* used a year
ago. I find it useful.

So based on those graphs, you need 25-30Mbps of available bandwidth (and
it should be redundant, from two different carriers). :)

Yeah, but he charges by the mb. Funny how they play differently when the
